"Unless" w angielskim – proste wyjaśnienie

“Unless” możemy używać zamiast “if” w zdaniach  warunkowych (najczęściej w trybach 0 i 1), ale należy pamiętać, że unless = if not. Oznacza to, że po “unless” reszta zdania jest twierdząca, a po “if” mamy przeczenie.

Poniższe zdania oznaczają dokładnie to samo:

Unless you leave now, you will be late. = If you don’t leave now, you will be late.

"Unless" w angielskim – więcej przykładów

Unless it rains, we will go for a walk. = If it doesn’t rain, we will go for a walk.

Unless you hurry, you’ll be late. = If you don’t hurry, you’ll be late.

Unless you water plants, they die. = If you don't water plants, they die.

Unless she studies, she won’t pass. = If she doesn't study, she won't pass.

Unless you eat, you will feel weak. = If you don't eat, you will feel weak.

💡"Unless" może być na początku lub w środku zdania - co wtedy z przecinkiem?

Gdy "unless" jest na początku zdania -> stawiamy przecinek przed drugą częścią zdania. Gdy "unless" jest w drugiej części zdania -> nie stawiamy przecinka przed.

Dlaczego? Bo przecinek stawiamy przed zdaniem nadrzędnym, czyli zdaniem z "will".
